PALM SPRINGS WINDMILL SELF-DRIVING TOUR!
Our self-driving tours are designed to be safe, fun and educational for the entire family while practicing social distancing requirements. In this audio tour, you will be guided from 1 to 10 stops, with an optional stop above Hwy 62 on a Vista to enjoy sweeping views of the San Gorgonia Pass dotted with wind turbines. Enjoy the narrative provided by our own Randy Buckmaster, who has been leading tours here in Palm Springs for more than a decade.
The tour takes approximately an hour and half, depending on your pace. You will learn how windmills work, why the wind farms are built in the San Gorgonio Pass, how many wind farms are there in the Coachella Valley and the technology improvements since 1982 when the first wind turbines were installed in the Coachella Valley and much more!
The Self-Driving Tours are $40 per car (maximum 8 people).

HOW IT WORKS:
Bookings are 15 minutes apart to allow for each car to get out at each stop to view the exhibit safely while practicing social distancing guidelines within our marked areas. We ask that everyone arrive on time and be respectful of the car in front of you and in back of you to allow for optimal flow of the tour.
Once booked, a confirmation email is sent to you with instructions. A sanitized, pre-loaded tablet and map will be given to you at check-in. After the tour, you will be sent a follow-up Quiz with BONUS information on wind turbines and wind energy!

From Interstate 10 Take the Indian Avenue exit (Exit 120), go north and just over the bridge and then immediately turn left onto 20th Avenue and continue (past Motel 6) along the service road heading west. Within one mile you will see our green tour headquarters building on the right.
From Palm Springs Heading north on N. Indian Canyon Drive, cross over the freeway and then immediately turn left onto 20th Avenue and continue (past Motel 6) along the service road heading west. Within one mile you will see our green tour headquarters building on the right.
